Philosophy
We often learn best by doing. With that philosophy, Jason Lorber, president of Aplomb Consulting, LLC conducts content-packed, energizing workshops at national, statewide, and company conferences. All of the workshops are highly interactive, including role-playing, brainstorming, and experiential learning. Jason mixes his experience in business (Stanford MBA), politics (served four terms in the Vermont House of Representatives), and stand-up comedy (opened for Joan Rivers). Your staff and board members will leave with a new set of skills, and more energy than they started with.

V. Boost Employee Engagement
Leadership workshops are a great way to build skills and capacity for your staff and board members, while boosting teamwork and creating a sense of energy. We’ll find the right length for your organization: 90 minutes, a half-day, or a full-day. And depending on your needs, we’ll customize the workshop for your particular organization and industry.
I. Create Compelling Vision & Mission Statements
Why doesn’t everyone in your organization know (from memory) word-for-word your organization’s vision and mission? It’s not too much to ask for, and it creates great power. We’ll start by getting a nuanced understanding of the differences between Vision and Mission statements, avoid pitfalls (and identify flaws), and then explore some of the ways that organizations can use their statements to inspire and energize their organization. This workshop is geared to CEOs, Executive Directors, board members, and senior executives.
II. Address Conflict
“I love conflict!” (That’s something people never say.) Most people avoid confrontation. But putting your head in the sand won’t make your organization more effective. We’ll discuss ways to address problems productively (and tactics to avoid). This workshop lays out an effective framework to meet with colleagues productively, while minimizing the opportunities for hostilities. We’ll also touch on the role of neutral facilitators and mediation.
III. Project the Best You – Leadership Presence
Studies show that your ability to present with aplomb increases your success in working with others. Build your confidence, project a stronger image, let go, and feel comfortable when…[gasp!]… you don’t know all the answers (your secret is safe with us). If you want to sharpen your response to the unexpected, take part in this thought-provoking, fun, and at times, hilarious workshop filled with instructive exercises, in a structured, safe, and supportive setting.
IV. Take Action on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
Yes, we want our organization to be more diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI), but how do we get there? This highly interactive workshop engages staff and board members on the big DEI questions, with specific action steps. Participants will leave the engaging, 60-minute working session with a fuller grasp of how DEI benefits their organization, the challenges they may face to accomplish DEI, who should be involved with finding solutions at their organization, and what to do next, including specific actions.
V. Boost Employee Engagement
Engagement: what it is, why it matters, and some tools to boost engagement. Most leaders claim that they want their company to work like a team. Employees often ask for a voice in what happens at their organization. Yet, when it’s time for leaders to listen and for employees to offer innovative ideas, oftentimes, both groups sometimes fall short. Through role-play, attendees will gain insights into their own strengths and blind spots as team players. By understanding where they personally shine, and where they have room for growth, participants will be able to bring that awareness to their company.
